This is a popular Indian film directed by the acclaimed director Mani Ratnam. The film revolves around the story of Raja (Praful Patel) who has been pitted against his brother to be their father's heir apparent. The cast include Deepika Chikhalia, Pyare Mohan Joshi, Manisha Koirala, Anjali Jathar, Shilpa Shetty, Satish Shah and Kumar Gaurav.Vibhuti Khandelwal has composed the music for this film. A remake of the Tamil film "Kadhal Kottai", starring Arya, Ilaiyaraaja composed music for this film. The music was released by T-Series. It was one of the highest selling album of the year 1999, with over 200,000 copies sold. The cast is Deepika Chikhalia, Pyare Mohan Joshi, Manisha Koirala, Anjali Jathar, Shilpa Shetty, Satish Shah and Kumar Gaurav. The lyrics were penned by Sameer and Javed Akhtar. Vibhuti Khandelwal has composed the music for this film. The background score was composed by Gary Lawyer. The film was a box office hit and made Rs.15 crore (equivalent to ₹36.11 crore or US$5 million in 2016) in India and also grossed internationally making it a superhit, becoming one of the highest grossing Hindi films of 1999. This amount excludes the revenue generated from the Indian theatrical circuit, which is generally about 40–60% of the box office gross revenues, due to low ticket prices and high-capacity audience attendance rates in Indian theatres compared to other countries such as US or UK. The film was dubbed into Tamil as "Ambhu Kalyani" (1999) and was directed by Dharani. This version also became a box office hit. The film was later remade in Telugu as "Aarilirunthu Arubathu Varalakshmi" (2003), starring Akkineni Nagarjuna, Sneha and Jai Jagadish.
